🚗 Is Your Child’s Car Seat Installed Correctly? 🚸

Did you know that only 1 in 5 car seats in Connecticut is used properly? Ensuring your child’s safety while traveling starts with choosing and using the right car seat or booster seat.

Connecticut law requires children to ride in a rear-facing car seat until they are at least 2 years old and 30 pounds.
✅ Once they outgrow their rear-facing seat, children must use a forward-facing car seat with a 5-point harness until age 5 and 40 pounds.
✅ After outgrowing a forward-facing seat, they must use a booster seat until they are at least 8 years old and 60 pounds.
✅ A proper seat belt fit is crucial—if the belt does not sit properly across the shoulder and lap, a booster seat is still needed!

Take the 5-Step Booster Seat Test!
🔹 Does your child sit all the way back against the seat?
🔹 Do their knees bend comfortably at the seat’s edge?
🔹 Does the seat belt cross the shoulder correctly (between the neck and arm)?
🔹 Is the lap belt low, touching the thighs?
🔹 Can your child sit like this for the whole trip?

If you answered “no” to any of these, your child still needs a booster seat!
